Rear Windshield Replacement

Precise replacement of rear glass including heated defroster lines — for cars, trucks, SUVs, and pickup trucks.

Complete Rear Glass Replacement with Defroster Restoration

Rear windshields are subject to unique stresses — thermal expansion from defroster grids, flexion from body movement, and impact from road debris. Unlike front windshields, rear glass is tempered (not laminated), which means it shatters into small pieces rather than cracking. A broken rear windshield must be replaced quickly to prevent water intrusion, theft risk, and driving hazards. We carry a wide range of OEM-matched rear glass and restore all embedded features including heated defroster grids.

Our Replacement Process

1

Glass Removal & Cleanup

We safely remove all broken glass from the vehicle interior and exterior, vacuuming the rear deck and surrounding areas to ensure no fragments remain.

2

Frame Inspection & Prep

We inspect the pinch weld and surrounding body for rust or damage, clean the bonding surface, and apply primer where needed to ensure a solid adhesive bond.

3

Glass Setting & Defroster Connection

The new glass is set with urethane adhesive. Defroster grid connectors and antenna leads are reattached and tested before we seal the install.

4

Seal & Functional Test

All edges are sealed against weather. We test the defroster grid, brake light (if third-brake-light equipped), and antenna connections before completion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We use glass that includes the same defroster grid pattern as your original and reconnect the electrical tabs. We test the defroster before we leave to confirm it's working correctly. In some cases where tabs are damaged, we can also repair defroster grid lines.
Yes. We carry sliding rear glass for most popular pickup truck models including Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tacoma. Both manual sliding and power sliding units are available.
Very urgent. A broken rear windshield exposes your vehicle interior to rain, theft, and road debris. It also creates a significant CO2 risk if exhaust fumes can enter the cabin. We offer same-day service for most vehicles — call or text us and we can usually schedule within hours.
